Cycling UK Oxfordshire organises its own rides and we also highlight some rides run by other local groups.

Even if you are not a Cycling UK member, you will be welcome on any ride that is within your capabilities and we will be happy to match you up with suitable rides. In general, you can ride for free on three rides before deciding whether to join Cycling UK.

Meeting to form a Bicester group

Wed 9 September 2015 - 7:00pm

Bicester Green, Station Approach, Bicester, OX26 6BZ.

Our programme of 5 monthly Bicester social cycle rides over the summer has seen great support, with an average of 16 riders many of them new to group riding.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss how we continue these rides, what the regular programme should be and how we should organise ourselves.  If you are interested in helping to run the group (or are just an interested rider), please come along and contribute to the discussion.  Agenda below.  Please bring your CTC Membership card if you possible as a number of Members may be required for some decisions.  If you can’t make the meeting please feel free to pass on your views, ideas and any feedback to Monica.

Ride report

Some 12 CTC members gathered at Bicester Green on 9 Septmber to formally agree the way forward for our new Bicester group .  After discussing the options, it was the unanimous decision to form CTC Bicester as an Informal CTC member group under CTC Oxfordshire.  A letter was duly prepared to Robin as Secretary asking permisssion to form the group. This was formally ratified  by CTC Oxfordshire at the next  committee meeting on 21 September.

The group plans to continue with a regular Sunday morning ride on 3rd Sunday of the month with shorter and longer ride options.  It was also agreed to try a longer ride, which will be held on the first Saturday of each month, starting at 10am.  The first of these rides will be on 3 October.  All rides will continue to start from Bicester Leisure Centre.

Thanks everyone for coming and showing your support for the new group – there was a real feel-good factor to the meeting.

Minutes of the meeting are attached.
