Cycling UK Oxfordshire organises its own rides and we also highlight some rides run by other local groups.

Even if you are not a Cycling UK member, you will be welcome on any ride that is within your capabilities and we will be happy to match you up with suitable rides. In general, you can ride for free on three rides before deciding whether to join Cycling UK.

CTC Oxfordshire AGM 2014

Sat 8 November 2014 - 11:00am

Hinton Waldrist village hall

The CTC Oxfordshire Annual General Meeting 2014 will be held in the Village Hall at Hinton Waldrist (SN7 8RN) on Saturday 8th November at 11am, as advertised in the October/November issue of Cycle.  Refreshments will be available.  The meeting will last for about 2 hours, including a review of local cycling activities over the last year.

The Agenda is attached to this page, and the Draft Minutes and Reports (Appendices) from the 2013 AGM can be found on the ‘About us’ page.

Committee Member nominations

We are keen to encourage new members on to the Committee this year, if you have views on the activities we should be running, or if you would be happy to help keep us organised.  We would be particularly keen to have some Committee Members from the North of the County (Bicester and Banbury), and someone to help with the Registration and Email lists.  The time requirement is small – as little as 4 evenings a year – and most roles on the Committee require no special skills.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, or would like to find out more, please contact Robin Tucker or Steve Swanton (chair@cyclingukoxfordshire.org).

Motions

We have two motions in addition to regular business, both aimed to develop the group and cycling in the county.

Motion 1 – That CTC Oxfordshire coordinates a series of rides in the Bicester area and gauges interest in the formation of a local group.  Proposer: Steve Swanton; Seconder: Robin Tucker.
We have had several contacts over the last year with CTC Members based in or near Bicester who are interested in rides and/or campaigning.

• Motion 2 – That CTC Oxfordshire organises a ride leading workshop.  Proposer: Steve Swanton; Seconder: Robin Tucker.
The aim of this is to encourage new ride leaders to come forward with appropriate support, and to exchange experiences and practices between ride leaders and groups.

The draft minutes of last year’s AGM and the current Committee details can be seen here on our website on the ‘About Us’ page.  A draft Agenda will be present 2 weeks before the meeting, and a final Agenda a few days before.

We hope you can come and look forward to meeting you,

Robin Tucker (Secretary) and the CTC Oxfordshire Committee

Ride report

A good AGM with lots of discussion in response to the Committee and group reports. Two motions were passed:
1) to organise a series of rides from Bicester (in response to a number of enquiries we’ve had from members in that area); and
2) to organise a workshop on ride leading.
We welcome three new members to the committee, Martin Casey as the Midweek Group representative, Andy Ellis as Registrar and Ian Murray as member without portfolio, but with a particular interest in riding and leading standards.
All committee reports and draft minutes are available to download from the ‘About us’ page.
